She received the PhD in law from The University of Miami, and later practiced law for 20 years in Miami. Polo made her first appearance on television in 2001, as part of Telemundo's Sala de Parejas. Her legal expertise was also employed to produce other court programs. Literary Works and Accolades in 1958, she wrote the story Los Hijos Muertos (The dead children) and won the Critic's Prize and Spanish National Prize for Literature. Ana Maria Matute left Spain in 1960 to go to the United States in 1960. Polo, who is also diagnosed with breast cancer and survivor of the disease, is often quoted about her cause. Polo has been a vocal advocate for LGBT rights throughout her career. She graduated in 1987 from the University of Miami School of Law in 1987, and is a member of the Florida Bar.
